Bob Carlton – FoxJet Sailplane

Bob Carlton began flying in 1979 at the age of 19. He has since logged more than 2,000 hours in a wide variety of aircraft, and holds a commercial pilot certificate. Bob has flown hang gliders, airplanes, helicopters, and sailplanes from hundreds of sites in the US, Canada, Mexico and Australia. Bob has flown air shows professionally since 1993.

Bob is one of the most versatile air show performers in North America. He began flying air shows in his Salto sailplane, and over the years has continued to add innovative capabilities to his performances.

The tradition of innovation continues with his FoxJet twin-engine jet sailplane. It has more power, more speed and more aerobatic capability than any other sailplane on the planet!

Carlton's Foxjet sailplane

The FoxJet sailplane features two jet engines, rips to altitude and performs a classic sailplane aerial ballet. Then it has even more aerobatic capability for screamin’ low-level jet aerobatics.

Powered by two PBS TJ-100 jet engines, the two-seat FoxJet sailplane is the only sailplane on the air show circuit capable of carrying two people and performing a low-level, jet-powered air show performance. Utilizing its powerful jet engines, the FoxJet roars through a high-speed aerobatic climb, followed by a spectacular exhibition of graceful sailplane aerobatics, choreographed to classical music, and featuring the world-famous Vertigo Airshows wingtip smoke.
